Strathlachlan no 3 + 4 are part of a series of 22 works, oil on paper, completed 2019-20. They were inspired by the coastal landscape of the east shore of Loch Fyne in Argyll, Scotland. The paintings are constructed from drawing made on the rocky peninsula located by the ruins of Castle Lachlan built during the 15th century. This tranquil site presents dynamic views over Loch Fyne and down towards the mountains of the west coast. I have visited this specific spot multiple times with friends and the representation of figurative forms is present in the work.
